World Vision believes that each child deserves access to life's basics - including clean, life-giving water. That's why, as part of our full solution to poverty and injustice, we partner with communities to deliver lasting water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions that give an opportunity for children to experience a fuller life today and into the future.

World Vision is the largest nongovernmental provider of clean water in the developing world, reaching one new person with clean water every 30 seconds and working to reach one new person every 10 seconds by 2020 and everyone in our project areas by 2030. We reach an average of four new schools every day with water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions. We work through local staff in thousands of communities worldwide, which gives us the relationships and reach to dramatically impact the global water crises.

World Vision's work results in water that continues to flow. We invest an average of 15 years in a community, giving local people ownership and training in maintenance water points. An independent study conducted by one of the premier academic groups in water research, the University of North Carolina Water Institute, showed that nearly 80 percent of World Vision wells studies in Ghana continued to function at high levels even after 20 years, thanks largely to our community engagement model.

Our water, sanitation, and hygiene efforts are part of a fully integrated development model that addresses the many factors that perpetuate poverty. Clean water is foundational to life, but we don't stop there: Our long-term, comprehensive model works to ensure sustainable improvements in nutrition, health, education, income generation, and overall well-being for children, their families, and their entire communities.
